Some experience necessary

The word ‘goldwork’ is used to describe embroidery with metal threads and wires, even if they are not gold!  This technique has a long history all over the world; originally reserved for items of state and ceremony, now it can be enjoyed by everyone.

Some threads are stitched over to secure them to the fabric, others are cut and stitched through - like beads.

This design fits in a 6 inch ring frame and is ideal as a next step from basic goldwork.  It also includes some intermediate-level silk shading.

The kit explores two types of couching plus chipping, and padding techniques.

You get full instructions for each stitch, with tips on how to achieve the best results, delivered in pdf format by email.

You will also need:  fabric and calico backing, no.6 bright check, no.6 wire check, Japanese thread, 1 1/2 twist, no.1 pearl purl, super pearl purl, two colours of stranded cotton, embroidery needles and chenille needles.
