Collection: Whitework Threads
Whitework is a beautiful technique that is sometimes overlooked because it doesn’t have bright colours to attract attention.
Most cultures have their own take on whitework, from the fine detailed work of Ayrshire (Scotland), to the shadow work of India.
Techniques include: pulled thread work, drawn thread work, surface stitches, cutwork and eyelets. When choosing whitework threads it is important to think about which techniques and fabric you will be using, so if you need any advice please email tutor@laurelin.co.uk and I will help you choose the right threads.
Did you know that whitework was used in Britain in the 17th - 19thCenturies to avoid the high taxes on imported French and Italian lace?
