Wondering what a mellor is for? You’re not the only one!

A mellor is a sadly overlooked embroidery tool which is used for laying and guiding threads into place.

In goldwork it plays a special role in helping to prevent cracks forming while you stitch cutwork or chipping.

It can also be used for cross stitch and tapestry/needlepoint to help guide the threads so that they lie flat together for better coverage.

These gorgeous tools are offered in a choice of woods:

Sycamore (pale blonde wood with a subtle grain)

English Cherry (light, warm toned wood)

Purple Heart (naturally damson purple colour)

Walnut (mid-tone brown wood with a lovely grain)

Rosewood (dark wood with a clearly defined grain)

I don't carry a large stock of these tools because of the lovely variety of woods, so if you have trouble choosing please pick 'random' and I will select one from my current stock.  Of course if you have a particular colour in mind, choose that one and I will make sure you get it. Thank you.
