'Holly Pin' Goldwork Embroidery Class - Online
Saturday 12th December 2020
10am to 1pm (GMT)
Join me online to learn how to apply felt, couch pearl purl and stitch shaded 'chipping', to create a pretty little holly leaf. Then see how to make it into a pin or ornament, using glass beads and wire to create a little bunch of gorgeous holly berries.
I will send you a kit (included in the price) in time for the class. Short videos of the techniques will be made available to you after the class to allow you to continue in your own time if need be.
I hope you will join me for this special class to celebrate Christmas with like minded people in this strange year.
Booking closes 12th November.
The class is suitable for beginners or more advanced stitchers who fancy making a lovely little pin for themselves or as a gift.
Fits 6 inch (15cm) hoop. You will also need a 6-8 inch hoop and sharp, narrow bladed scissors (these or these are good). It would be helpful to have PVA glue or similar, but this is optional.
Background on the goldwork technique:
The word ‘goldwork’ is used to describe embroidery with metal threads and wires, even if they are not gold! This technique has a long history all over the world; originally reserved for items of state and ceremony, now it can be enjoyed by everyone.
Some threads are stitched over to secure them to the fabric, others are cut and stitched through - like beads.
This design fits in a 6 inch ring frame and is ideal for beginners.
In the box you get full instructions for each stitch, with tips on how to achieve the best results.
Kit contains: calico fabric, felt, pearl purl, wire check in two colours, sewing thread, needles, design and full instructions
The kit comes in a presentation box for handy storage.
